Wedding at The Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution

I first met Alex and Allyce the day after they were engaged while shooting Alex’s sister’s wedding. When Allyce reached out to me to photograph her wedding to say I was over the moon would be an understatement. Alyce and Alex were wonderful and kind, and his family is the very best type of people who make you feel like are one of them within minutes of meeting. Getting to spend another day documenting their amazing wedding at the Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution was such a joy and honor.

The two of them first met 11 years ago while attending college at Gannon University. They ran in the same group of friends so the ended up spending a lot of time together at gatherings. They started dating right before graduation, despite the fact that Allyce was moving to Connecticut for graduate school. For two years they drove back and forth over 8 hours on the weekends to see each other. Once Allyce graduated, she and Alex moved to Colorado.

Over the course of those 8 years that they were together as everyone around them started to get married, people would often ask them when they were planning on getting married. Alex asked her to marry him the night before his sister’s wedding. In Allyce’s words “Our engagement was simple, just the two of us, the only way I would have had it.”
